It’s never a dull day in Glasgow, as there is more drama off the field than on the field of play.

Even though Celtic are still favourites for the title, the performances on the pitch have been pretty poor from Brendan Rodgers’ side.

But as always, Rangers are the laughing stock because, after sacking Russell Martin as their manager, they are hovering above the relegation zone and still looking for a new coach.

Many thought Steven Gerrard was going to return to Ibrox, but all of that has now been shot down, as Simon Jordan compared the Gers’ initial push to bring back their former manager to Rodgers returning to Celtic.

Before Gerrard rejected Rangers, Jordan told talkSPORT that it was ‘lazy’ on the Gers’ part to knock on the former Liverpool man’s door.

Jordan also felt that it was ‘lazy’ from Celtic’s perspective to bring back Rodgers for his second spell when he replaced Ange Postecoglou in the Parkhead dugout in 2023.

But then Jordan began ranting about how it’s seemingly easy lifting trophy after trophy in Glasgow.

Jim White: “Was it lazy thinking from Celtic to go back to Brendan?”

Jordan: “Yeah, I thought that was lazy too. I thought that was lazy too.”

White: “But it works.”

Jordan: “Only because the opposition they play against is so bloody poor. I mean, you could send Elmer Fudd up to one of those two clubs, and one of them is going to win the league. It’s either Rangers or Celtic.”

White: “Maybe not this time.”

Jordan: “Let’s hope Hearts break the monopoly. Let’s see. I will have a bet with you. One of the teams that will win the league this year will be Rangers or Celtic. It won’t be Rangers now, so it will be Celtic.

“And that’s the league. That’s what it is. That’s what it consists of – the fact is, Rangers need serious people to know what they are doing. They can’t muck about now.

“These guys have put somebody in. They have taken a punt on it. I don’t like what’s happened to Russell Martin.”

Never underestimate Celtic’s dominance

Sometimes, Celtic’s dominance in Scotland is disrespected because they are expected to win, and they go on to meet those expectations.

Rangers spent a fortune this summer, yet find themselves in a relegation battle, so it just goes to show that money isn’t everything because pressure is a killer in Glasgow.

Over the last two decades, Celtic have won 42 trophies to Rangers’ 18, and also have won more Trebles in the last decade than their rivals have titles.

Never underestimate those wearing the green and white colours who deal with the pressure, because not many cities across the footballing world can match it.
