Northern, TransPennine Express and Transport for Wales services are all affected

Commuters are being warned to expect hours of disruption on railway lines heading into Manchester.
Northern, TransPennine Express and Transport for Wales services have been hit by a points failure at Earlestown this morning (October 15).
It means railway lines between Manchester, Liverpool and Warrington Bank Quay are closed – with services facing cancellations and delays throughout the morning rush hour.
A National Rail spokesperson said: “A points failure at Earlestown means all lines are currently closed.

“As a result, trains running between Liverpool Lime Street / Warrington Bank Quay may be cancelled or revised. Disruption is expected until 09:00.”
National Rail says the following services are affected:
- Northern between Chester and Leeds via Manchester Victoria
- Northern between Chester and Manchester Victoria
- Northern between Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester Airport
- Northern between Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester Victoria
- TransPennine Express between Liverpool Lime Street and Newcastle
- TransPennine Express between Liverpool Lime Street and Stalybridge
- Transport for Wales between Chester and Manchester Airport
- Transport for Wales between Holyhead and Manchester Airport
- Transport for Wales between Llandudno and Manchester Airport
Rail replacement buses are being organised to run between Huyton and Manchester Oxford Road, and between Warrington Bank Quay and Manchester Victoria, National Rail says.
Ticket restrictions for alternative routes through the affected area are also being lifted.
