One of the National Theatre’s most celebrated productions is heading for the Liverpool Empire theatre. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, which won seven Olivier Awards in 2013 including Best New Play, is touring the UK in 2026 and 2027.
The show is based on the novel by Mark Haddon, which Simon Stephens later adapted into a stage production which premiered in 2012 in the Cottesloe Theatre at the Royal National Theatre in London.
The production centres around a mysterious death of a neighbour’s dog that is investigated by Christopher Boone.
Christopher, who is autistic and gifted with a brilliant mind for numbers, is unsettled by the unpredictability of people and everyday life.
When the neighbour’s dog is discovered killed, he finds himself under suspicion. But he is determined to prove his innocence, and becomes both detective and suspect, which leads to the mystery becoming darker and more complex with every clue he uncovers.
