Liverpool head coach Arne Slot believes Manchester United’s early-season performances have been better than the table suggests ahead of Sunday’s big game at Anfield.
United could make it back-to-back wins this weekend having secured a 2-0 victory over Sunderland before the international break. Prior to that win, the pressure was mounting on Ruben Amorim, particularly after the loss to Brentford.
Liverpool have hit a difficult patch of form in recent weeks after suffering three straight defeats at the hands of Crystal Palace, Galatasaray and Chelsea. Slot previewed the clash on Friday and admitted his side will have to be at their best if they are to come away with the three points on Sunday.
“I look forward even more to Man United, I know how special of a game it is,” he said. “The most watched [game] all over the world, so special to be a part of it, we have to be at our best. United had a better start than the table is showing, so very interesting game, especially as it’s at Anfield.”
The Liverpool boss went on to provide injury updates on Ibrahima Konate and Ryan Gravenberch, saying: “Ryan is completely fit. Although we still have to train twice, but if you ask me now he is completely fit.
“We are in a good place with the Dutch national team. If Ronald Koeman can make a decision to either play Tijjani Reijnders or Ryan Gravenberch. So he played them both for 45 minutes.
“Ibou (Konate) has come back to us and has started his sessions again and is expected to train with us today.”
