Their words, Princess Anne reflected, ‘have helped us understand and support families left behind.’ The 74-year-old royal, often dubbed the hardest-working member of the Firm, then added her own tribute: ‘110 years later, we stand here at dawn to commemorate the Anzacs, remembering their bravery, courage and sacrifice.
‘We also remember all Australian and New Zealand men and women who, since that day, have served their country in wars, conflicts and peace missions. Their service is not forgotten, we will remember them.’
The Princess Royal and Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, were reunited last week at the royal family’s Easter Sunday celebrations in Windsor. The pair were in high spirits as they joined their respective husbands, Sir Tim Laurence and Prince Edward, as well as King Charles, Queen Camilla, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, made a surprise appearance with his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, who was seen in a warm embrace with the Duchess of Edinburgh.
