The best way to save money with sky is through a TV and broadband bundle.
Shoppers wanting to expand their TV selection at home will probably be looking at Sky. With its mix of original content, access to exclusives and a huge range of channels, Sky is a top choice for those wanting to binge on US dramas, catch the latest movies, or dive into the widest range of sports.
But Sky is expensive and the cost soon adds up. So for those looking to save, the best way to get the most out of Sky is through the bundles that the company offers.
Sky TV is the star of the show and shoppers might be paying for Sky TV separately to their broadband, but that could see them paying over the odds. For example, Sky’s cheapest TV package is the £15 Sky Essential TV, which comes with a Sky Stream box and free Netflix.
This needs an internet connection to work, which is where the savings come in. If a customer got their broadband from BT, the 150Mbps service would cost £28.99 a month (full fibre). Taking that 150Mbps full fibre connection from Sky is cheaper at £27 a month – but when you take both Sky Essential TV and Sky Broadband, the total cost is £35.
That means shoppers are paying the equivalent of £20 for the same speed broadband connection – which is over £215 cheaper for a 24-month contract than taking the same speed internet connection from BT.
The key here is to bundle things up and make sure that customers get the service that they want. The advantage that Sky offers is that even on the basic package there’s access to free Netflix (saving £5.99 a month), as well as access to Sky Atlantic (home of The Sopranos, The White Lotus, House of the Dragon, Succession), and Discovery+ (including some Premier League football and UEFA competitions) as well as UK terrestrial services, including catch-up like BBC iPlayer.
There’s the option to take slower broadband from Sky, but it’s the same price as the 150Mbps full fibre; equally, there’s the option to go faster, but in most households streamers won’t need that additional speed, so the trick is to focus on the TV content instead.

There are savings to be had when shoppers take a Sky TV package and broadband, with big potential savings over separate contracts.
For those wanting the best selection of TV channels, Sky Ultimate TV includes 35+ more channels. The TV service is £7 a month more expensive, but again, there are savings when it comes to Sky’s broadband.
If a customer takes the £22 option for Sky Ultimate TV and bundles that up with 150Mbps broadband again, the total cost is £39 a month. That’s just £4 more than the Essentials TV bundle – so the equivalent rate paid for broadband is then just £17 a month – for the same 150Mbps speeds.
Of course, Sky isn’t the only affordable internet provider, but for those taking a TV deal too, it’s hard to beat. Virgin Media is offering 362Mbps broadband with its TV package from £36.99 a month, while EE’s Entertainment package with Full Fibre 74 is currently £27.99 a month, but rises to £52.99 after 6 months.
The Sky Stream at the heart of Sky’s TV packages offers a full streaming experience with access to all the streaming apps (separate subscriptions required). The Sky Stream just has to be connected to your home internet to get connected, with the option of Wi-Fi or a cable for a more reliable performance.
Shoppers enjoy the convenience of Sky Stream, as you can connect it to any TV in the home with no need for an aerial, but it doesn’t offer the recording that the Sky Q used to offer. Sky Stream can also be a little unreliable, sometimes with patchy sound and sometimes dropping the internet connection.
While Sky offers good value for money and a wide selection of content, the company’s customer service record doesn’t look good, with over 17,000 Trustpilot reviews and an average score of 1.3 (out of 5).
