The 49ers in coordination with the Leeds United Foundation and the NFL Foundation have teamed up for Unlocking Potential, a multi-year initiative to provide greater access to educational and sporting pathways for marginalized young people in Leeds. On Saturday, October 11, 2025, the program welcomed thirty children from Beeston Primary School in Leeds for the opportunity to attend their very first NFL London Game.
During their trip to the capital, the children took part in flag football drills in London while meeting special guests former 49ers wide receiver Marquise Goodwin and 49ers mascot Sourdough Sam. The noted 49ers alumni, Goodwin, has participated in a variety of team events this season and is a celebrated athlete who participated in the 2012 Olympic Games in London as a long jump participant in Track and Field.
