An Edinburgh local was concerned when a water main appeared to be shooting water “higher than the nearby buildings”.

The incident allegedly began on Saturday, October 17 and is said to have continued until the morning of Sunday, October 18.

It took place in an area near Madelvic Square in the Granton area of Edinburgh, nearby a Lidl and B&M Home Store.

An image from the scene appears to show a large plume of water spurting into the sky. It seemed to be projecting water into the air high above the level of surrounding structures.

The resident who shared the image with Edinburgh Live claimed to have reported the incident on Friday evening around 8pm and were told help was on the way. The issue is not believed to be ongoing.

The resident told Edinburgh Live “I already reported yesterday but it was still going this morning. The water was going higher than the nearby buildings.”

Scottish Water has been approached for comment.
