Joe Gelhardt got in on the act as Leeds United’s loanees enjoyed a good weekend while their parent club toiled against Burnley.
Mateo Joseph scored the first goals of his loan spell at Mallorca as he scored a brace in a 3-1 win over Sevilla.
He was joined on the scoresheet by another fellow Leeds exile, as Joe Gelhardt scored a dramatic late winner for Hull City, in a 3-2 win against Birmingham City.
Their goals rubbed salt in the wounds for Leeds boss Daniel Farke, who was forced to watch on as his side toiled away in front of goal in a costly defeat against Burnley.
Now, Harry Gray and Oli McBurnie have led the reaction to Gelhardt’s goal, sending messages of support to the exiled Leeds man.

Joseph took time out of celebrating his first goals for Mallorca, saying, “Joffy” with a high hands and love heart emoji, while Gelhardt’s former Leeds academy teammate Sean McGurk posted, “Main man”.
Leeds United loanee is on course for his best-ever season
Gelhardt has endured a frustrating period in his career after he had looked set to be a future Premier League regular when he scored his famous goal for the Whites against Norwich in 2022.
However, a lack of first-team opportunities and injuries limited his impact at Leeds, meaning he has been forced to leave on loan to play first-team football.
Joe Gelhardt’s recent scoring record
- 2025/26 – 3 goals in 11 games (all for Hull)
- 2024/25 – 5 goals in 23 games (20 games for Hull, 3 games for Leeds)
- 2023/24 – 1 goal in 13 games (all for Leeds)
- 2022/23 – 4 goals in 40 games (20 games for Leeds, 20 games for Sunderland)
- 2021/22 – 2 goals in 22 games (all for Leeds)
As things stand, Gelhardt is on course for his best goal-scoring season to date, having scored three goals in 11 games for Hull this season, according to FotMob.
If he can stay fit and in form, he should comfortably pass his best goal tally, which came last season, as he scored five goals in 20 games in another spell with Hull.
