Dros Dro has won the Pan Celtic Song Contest 2025 in Carlow, Ireland bringing Wales victory for a second year in a row.

Wales has won the Pan Celtic Song Contest for the 18th time, with Dros Dro taking victory with their song “Troseddwr yr Awr”, they scored 42 points finishing 2 points ahead runners up Brittany. Dros Dro were selected to represent Wales through the annual Welsh language song contest Cân i Gymru.

The full results were as follows:

  1. Wales – Dros Dro – “Troseddwr yr Awr” – 42 points
  2. Brittany – 40 points
  3. Scotland – Ewen Henderson – “Gaol’s Gaire” – 38 points
  4. Isle of Man – Sue Harrison and Rob Middleton – “Kirree Veg” – 30 points
  5. Ireland – Gráinne Ní Fhátharta – “Fágtha Gan Freagraí” – 30 points

Of note is the absence of Cornwall in this years competition. Cornwall had competed in the contest in every edition since 1972 and won the competition eleven times.

Pan Celtic Song Contest

The Pan Celtic Song Contest has been held annually since 1971 and is part of the Pan Celtic Festival. The aim of the contest is to promote modern Celtic languages and cultures from the six Celtic nations of:

  • Brittany
  • Cornwall
  • Ireland
  • Isle of Man
  • Scotland
  • Wales
