It’s not unusual for our friends from across the pond to make the journey to the UK and start afresh. Despite sharing a common language, there are numerous cultural differences between the US and UK, such as our love for pubs and afternoon tea.

An American who has resided in London for the past four years has confessed there are certain things about the UK he still finds puzzling. TikTok user @kjordyyy, who has an impressive following of 280,500, shared his observations in a detailed video, declaring “London is unhinged”. He began: “First thing, why is it a random Thursday night and people are setting off fireworks?”

Although he resides in south London, he suggested it might be a local phenomenon, but noted: “I’m hearing this all year around.”

However, it wasn’t just the fireworks that perplexed him; he also commented on the “crazy awkwardness” on the London Underground.

“It is interesting it’ll be 8am 9am super rush everyone’s on the way to work and not a PEEP,” he conceded.

“Everyone’s avoiding each other’s eye contact and it’s just such an interesting scene. Don’t be mistaken though on the weekend Saturday/Sunday that is the loudest you’ll ever see the tube. It’s because they got that liquid courage in them.”

Lastly, foxes were a topic of discussion in the American’s TikTok video, as he initially believed they were “in the same league as wolves”.

He continued: “Last but not least and this one’s a tiny bit niche, foxes just chilling I can wholeheartedly say I’ve never seen a fox before in my life my entire life.

“And you would think foxes would be like in a countryside or maybe an outskirts but no if it’s 8 or 9pm you’ll see rattling in the bushes and low and behold it’s a freaking fox and the craziest part is they’re not even dangerous.

“I thought foxes were dangerous, I thought they’re in the same league as wolves or even like honey badgers but bro foxes are the most timid creatures and not just that you’ll hear weird noises screeches and screaming at like 12am that sound almost like babies crying or is this foxes fighting or doing you know what, but madness.”

His video has since amassed 1,300 likes alongside numerous comments.

One viewer remarked: “I don’t feel awkward on the Tube at that time. That’s *you*, not something you’re observing.”

A second person commented: “No one gets on the tube in rush hour to make friends,” while a third noted: “North London has random fireworks too! Always like 1am on a Tuesday as well.”
