This weekend, Saturday 25 October, the Scottish Campaign for Borders Rail will hold its annual general meeting. The location is emotive. Hawick is the biggest intermediate community on the former “Waverley Route”, but it’s still 17 miles (27km) from a railhead. What difference could extending the tracks make? Just ask those in the village of Stow, currently benefitting from its tenth year of rail service.
