One of PS5’s biggest challenges has been actively encouraging players to upgrade from the wildly popular PS4.
With hardware prices still high for the new-gen system, the reluctance to upgrade has slowly started to affect third-party publishers – even Capcom recently complained about it.
And with Genshin Impact expected to end support for its last-gen version on 8th April, the publisher has now released a commercial politely encouraging players to make the transition.
The trailer effectively explains that the game has expanded beyond the limits of Sony’s previous console, and that players who want to continue their adventure should do so on new-gen hardware.
It points out that while the core game remains the same, its loading times are dramatically reduced and its 4K visuals look better than ever.
It also refers to the new Miliastra Wonderland mode, which is out today. This will not be available in the PS4 version, and will effectively allow you to play hundreds of user generated experiences, from multiplayer minigames to story campaigns.
In order to further encourage the transition, all PlayStation players will receive a redemption code for 320 Geode of Replication crystals, which are one of the new currencies being introduced as part of the new mode.
It’s really interesting to see a commercial like this come out. Obviously, HoYoverse will know how many active players it has left on PS4, but clearly it knows it needs to encourage those people to upgrade.
Are you one of the remaining players still stuck on PS4? Why haven’t you decided to upgrade yet? Let us know in the comments section below.
