Dozens of residents in Yorkshire are set to benefit from upgraded heating.

Connect Housing Association has secured £84,000 from the Heat Network Efficiency Scheme (HNES) to improve two communal heating systems in Leeds: Hawthorn Mill and Nowell Court.

The funding will support better insulation, improved controls, and upgrades to reduce heat loss and service disruptions.

Louise Singleton, HNES programme manager, said: “We’re delighted to mark yet another milestone with the publication of our round 9 funding recipients.

“Once again, thousands more residents will benefit from a more reliable central heating system thanks to HNES support, while homes and buildings across England and Wales become more energy efficient and carbon friendly.”

Specific improvements will include building management system (BMS) upgrades, new thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs), and improved heat meters for each property.

The two Leeds schemes are among 17 projects to receive a share of over £7.3 million in capital support through Round 9 of the HNES programme.

HNES targets older, less reliable heat networks across England and Wales, aiming to deliver warmer, more reliable, and environmentally friendly heating to residents.

Wider improvements funded through the scheme are expected to save more than 57,000 tonnes of carbon emissions annually once completed.
