A body had been found in woodland in Eryri (Snowdonia). A mountain rescue team was called to recover the individual from Coed Bryn-Engan near Capel Curig, Conwy.

The discovery was made on Thursday, October 23. Few details have been revealed and the gender of the person has not been disclosed.

Twenty members of Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation were deployed to the area following a request from by North Wales Police. They were joined by members of the Welsh Ambulance Service.

In an initial log of the incident, OVMRO said: “North Wales Police called to request assistance with retrieval of a body found in the area of Coed Bryn Engan. A small team deployed from base and met with NWP and WAST. The casualty was transported to the roadside and transferred to a private ambulance.”

Coed Bryn-Engan sits above the southern edge of Llynnau Mymbyr and stretches across to the A5, bounded by Afon Llugwy and its tributaries.

Paths through Coed Bryn-Engan lead to the summit of 2,860ft Moel Siabod, a peak in the Moelwynion range that’s among the most prominent in Eryri.

The woodland, in the western extremity of Gwydyr Forest, is familiar to visitors driving to Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon). It can been seen from the A4086 before the road heads up Pen-y-Pass and then down to Llanberis.

Views from Llynnau Mymbyr, of Yr Wyddfa and surrounding peaks, are amongst the most photographed in the national park.
