Hollyoaks spoilers follow.
Hollyoaks has said goodbye to Marie and Arlo Fielding. The two characters left the village to start a new life in tonight’s episode, with actors Rita Simons and Dan Hough bowing out of the show. But in typical Marie fashion, her final scenes were filled with drama, as she attempted to carry out a sinister baby plan…
Last week it was revealed that Marie had been faking her pregnancy to extort money from Tony, who she told was the father of the baby. Marie made plans for her and her son Arlo to move to Brookside Close, having put down a deposit on a house. But she was going by the name of Pauline and still pretending to be pregnant, and it soon became clear she was planning to steal Cleo’s baby – her grandson.

In today’s episode, Marie told Arlo that she had been faking her pregnancy but lied and said that Cleo had agreed to give them her newborn baby.
After Cleo gave birth to her son prematurely, she suffered complications and was taken into surgery.

Meanwhile, Marie pretended to be Sienna and managed to sneak into the neonatal intensive care unit.
Arlo waited outside the hospital and, believing Marie’s scheme was above board, told Diane they were there to pick up Cleo’s baby.
While Clare found Marie and told her to run, by the time Diane intervened, Marie was full of remorse and returned the baby to the incubator.

Brookside legend Billy later arrived to take Marie and Arlo to their new home, and when Marie came clean about all her lies, Billy reassured her she’d fit right in on the iconic Close.
In a statement about her exit, Rita said: “I’ve loved every second of playing Marie – from her questionable parenting choices to her excessive partying. Spending these last two years in Liverpool with the wonderful cast and crew of Hollyoaks has been full of love and support, but sadly it’s time to move on.

“Also I want to thank [executive producer] Hannah Cheers for giving me the most iconic exit… Brookside Close better watch out. You never know in the world of soap…”
