Hubaish Khan, Aramaan Azam, Usmaan Rehman, Suheel Ellahi and Farhaan Azam were all sentenced to lengthy spells behind bars after being convicted of offences including attempted murder and causing grievous bodily harm with intent following a trial at Birmingham Crown Court.

All the defendants appeared at Birmingham Crown Court during a sentencing hearing across Friday, October 24 and Monday, October 27, after being convicted following a trial.

The case was linked to two incidents, with the first seeing a man being lured to Yew Tree Road, Aston, and then attacked with baseball bats and knives on January 5, 2022.

As the victim arrived in his car, the court heard how Khan then rammed into them at speed, making sure he couldn’t escape.

Alongside his accomplices  Aramaan Azam, Rehman and Farhaan Azam, they smashed up the car and dragged their target on the floor.

The victim in his 20s, was stabbed three times, had a fractured jaw, missing teeth, a broken nose, and other internal injuries, which included a stab wound to his chest which only narrowly missed his heart and left him with life-changing injuries.

West Midlands Police said it had presented evidence at court that the victim had been lured to the location by another man in Ellahi.

Then, just over two years later on February 29, 2024, officers were called to Birchfield Road, also Birmingham, at around 11.50pm to reports a man in his 20s had been stabbed and had serious hand injuries.

Following extensive enquiries Khan, Ellahi and Aramaan Azam were also arrested in connection with this attack and were charged with attempted murder for the 2024 offence, as well as the incident in 2022.

Khan, 25, of Rockland Drive, Birmingham, was charged with attempted murder and causing grievous bodily harm with intent and received a 29 year prison sentence, while  Aramaan Azam, 26, of Millhouse Road, Birmingham, was charged with two counts of attempt murder and received a life sentence to serve a minimum of 21 years and two months.

Rehman, 25, of Fentham Road, Birmingham, was charged with attempted murder and jailed for 20 years in relation to the 2022 incident, while Ellahi, aged 24, of Yew Tree Road, Perry Barr, was charged with attempted murder in 2024 and causing grievous bodily harm with intent in 2022 and was jailed for 18 years.

Finally, Farhaan Azam, 24, of no fixed address, was charged with attempted murder and jailed for 20 years in relation to 2022.

DC Andy Harman, of West Midlands Police, said: “These attacks were callous and malicious and intended to seriously hurt to each of the victims.

“Both have been left with life-changing injuries and could easily have been killed.

“Each of these incidents led to incredibly thorough investigations with teams from across the force teaming up to put the pieces together and arrest and charge those responsible.

“There’s no excuse for this kind of crime and how calculated they were to injure their victims.

“We’ll always do everything in our power, no matter how long it takes, to put those responsible behind bars.”
