ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. and wide receiver Drake London are set to play in Sunday’s Week 9 matchup against the New England Patriots.
Both players missed the team’s 34-10 loss to the Miami Dolphins, and have been trending upward in practice leading up to this Sunday in Foxborough.
Penix was dealing with a bone bruise in his left knee suffered during the team’s Week 7 game against the San Francisco 49ers, allowing Kirk Cousins to take over behind center against Miami. Cousins completed 21 of 31 passes for 173 yards and a disappointing 33.4 quarterback rating.

Penix has completed 61% of his passes for 1,409 yards with five touchdowns and three interceptions thus far in 2025. He’s been the team’s starter since Week 16 of last season.
London leads the team with 469 receiving yards and two touchdown catches. He missed last week’s game against Miami due to a hip injury but is back in action, giving Penix a reliable target against a middling Patriots pass defense.
Tight end Kyle Pitts (ankle) and wide receiver Darnell Mooney (hamstring) are also set to play.
Cornerback Billy Bowman Jr. (hamstring), offensive lineman Storm Norton (foot), receiver Casey Washington (back) and defensive lineman Zach Harrison (knee) were all ruled out.
Safety Jesse Bates III (knee) and edges Jalon Walker (groin) and Leonard Floyd (hamstring) were ruled as questionable for Sunday.
