Didier Drogba has shared his admiration for Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian King has been one of the main reasons behind the Reds’ dominance over the last few years, with the attacker even contributing to over 50 goals last season.

Things haven’t gone so well for Salah since returning to action for Liverpool in the 2025-26 campaign, with the winger looking like a shadow of his former self.

However, despite his poor run of form, Drogba still has an affinity for the attacker, even dubbing him the “king.”

Didier Drogba says that he loves Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah

As mentioned, Salah has had a tough time of it over the last couple of months, with his teammates often outshining him.

Dominik Szoboszlai and Hugo Ekitike have been Liverpool’s two best players thus far, and in comparison to them, the Egyptian King has been half the player.

He was given a rest by Arne Slot in Liverpool’s 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace on Wednesday, but it’s unclear whether this will have had any effect on his performances or not.

And now, when asked which African players he was impressed by in the Premier League at the moment, Drogba gave Salah a special mention.

“I like Kudus, I used to like Jackson, because I see a lot of similarities between his debut at Chelsea,” he said to SportyTV.

“Unfortunately, it was a difficult time for him at Chelsea, and of course, I forgot my brother, Mohamed Salah, king Salah, I love you.”

Mohamed Salah must prove that he’s still Liverpool’s best player when they face Aston Villa

Liverpool’s upcoming Premier League clash against Aston Villa is likely to have a much bigger impact on the Reds’ season than most fans would’ve initially thought.

If you’d have asked anyone at the start of the season whether Liverpool should have anything to worry about for this game, their answer would’ve been no.

However, since the Anfield outfit have lost six of their last seven games across all competitions, the likelihood of Liverpool retaining the Premier League title is dwindling.

This is where Salah comes in. Now that he’s had a rest from the mid-week game, he should be fully recharged and ready to make an impact against the Villans on Saturday.

There’s no way that in just a few short months, Salah’s ability to pass and put the ball in the back of the net have just disappeared.

The Salah of last season is still within him; he just needs to find him and bring him out.

If he managed to do this, he could once again prove that he’s the Reds’ best player and why Liverpool were right to offer him a two-year contract extension.
