Sometimes a cosy staycation is the best option if you’re not wanting to travel too far. For those after a quick romantic getaway, there are loads of options to sift through over on Sykes Cottages.

This particular ‘Ewe Two’ pod near Oakenholt is perfect for two guests after a quiet trip. It’s just over 40 minutes away from Liverpool, and has been rated 4.9 out of 5 by visitors. The ‘charming’ barrel-style pod is described as ‘perfect for couples who enjoy nature’ away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It has an open-plan living room and a wood-fired hot tub for extra indulgence.

The pods are set back and separated from the owner’s own property, surrounded by a backdrop of fields. Placed within the Flintshire countryside of North East Wales looking out onto rolling hills and the River Dee Estuary, this is a perfect spot for a quiet break.

North Wales is known for its abundance of activities from scenic steam railway journeys to visits to sandy beaches, visits to castles and forts and lengthy walks. There is a pub 0.6 miles away from the pod, and the decking area with the hot tub is private so you can watch the sunset in peace.

Please note that no infants or children or allowed and there are no pets allowed. If you’re planning on visiting in the winter, electric heating is included.

A second review read: “The accommodation was immaculate and very comfortable. The hot tub was, well, just amazing. This was mine and my fiancé’s first trip just us with no kids, and such a great experience that as soon as we got home we booked for next year to come back as our honeymoon weekend. Couldn’t think of anywhere better to go. Excited to return next year as Mr and Mrs.”

A third visitor said: “This is the third time we have visited Ewe Two and had another fabulous and relaxing stay. The pod was spotless, weather was fabulous and being surrounded by fields gave us the perfect get away. We will be back soon, thank you Carol.”
