Police are investigating after a football fan was racially abused during a Birmingham City Football Club match.

Officers issued an image of a man they want to speak to after a ‘racist gesture’ was reportedly made towards a Charlton fan.

It happened during the game at St Andrews at Knighthead Park on Saturday, February 15. Since the incident, police have been making enquiries and working with Birmingham City FC.

And today, Sunday, April 27, the force shared a CCTV appeal of a man they want to identify. They urged anyone with information to contact them.

The appeal read: “We want to speak to him after a visiting supporter was racially abused during a Birmingham City match.

“A racist gesture was reportedly made towards a Charlton fan during the match at St. Andrews at Knighthead Park on Saturday, 15 February.

“We have been carrying out enquiries and working closely with Birmingham City throughout our investigation, and we are now asking for your help in identifying the man pictured.
