A police dog was deployed in the hunt for the driver of a dark coloured Citroen on the outskirts of Newry on Sunday night.
Emergency services were called to reports of an road traffic collision on the Silverbridge Road shortly before 10pm.
It was reported that a man had collided with a telegraph pole and flipped the car, where he was reported to have also been trapped in the vehicle.
Police, firefighters, and ambulance crews raced to the scene but, upon arrival, found that the male had fled.

A police dog was deployed into nearby fields on the hunt for the driver, but he was not found.
In a statement, a police spokesperson said: “Police in Newry received a report at around 10pm on Sunday, of a single-vehicle collision in the Silverbridge Road area, where a car had hit a telegraph pole and overturned.
