Police stopped this vehicle in east Belfast this afternoon

Two people have been arrested after police stopped a vehicle in south Belfast on Tuesday afternoon.

Officers from the Auto Crime Team stopped a vehicle in Knocknagoney which was found to contain over £1800 worth of stolen clothes.

In a post on social media, a spokesperson for south Belfast police said the theft occurred in a shop in Bangor 15 minutes prior to the stop.

“Within the vehicle they located a male passenger who was recalled to prison and wanted in relation to 6 thefts totalling over £3000.00,” the post said.

The spokesperson added: “The male passenger and his female driver have been arrested in relation to the thefts and the goods have been returned to the store.”
