Cooper, 34, has been available since leaving CSKA Sofia at the end of last season. He has since been weighing up his options.
In this latest update regarding his situation, The Star claim he continues to be on the Owls’ radar. It remains to be seen at this stage whether they will be able to lure him to Hillsborough.
Hull City looked into a deal for the veteran last year after he cut ties with Leeds United, as per HullLive. However, a return to the MKM Stadium fell through in the end which opened the door for him to switch to Bulgaria instead.
Sheffield Wednesday could now still hand him a route back into the Championship. It has been a tough start to the campaign for the South Yorkshire outfit.
They are bottom of the table and are inside the drop zone along with Sheffield United and Norwich City. They are back in action on Wednesday night against the latter.
Sheffield Wednesday still want Liam Cooper
Sheffield Wednesday could see Cooper as someone to boost their defensive department. If he joined SWFC, he would give them more competition and depth at the back and inject experience into their ranks.
The Scotland international, who has made 16 caps, started out at Hull City. He went on to play 17 games for the Tigers after rising up through their academy and was also loaned out to Carlisle United and Huddersfield Town to get some experience under his belt before he left permanently for Chesterfield.

Leeds United came calling for his services in 2014 and he went on to spend 10 years at Elland Road. He made 284 appearances in all competitions for the Whites and scored 11 goals from the back.
Cooper left when his deal expired last year before CSKA Sofia snapped him up. He has been without a club for the past few months now and is carefully considering his next move in the game.

What now for Sheffield Wednesday and Liam Cooper?
Sheffield Wednesday are awaiting the green light from the EFL to bring in free agents. SWFC could do with some more depth in their squad.
If fit, Cooper could be a shrewd addition for the Owls if they were able to acquire him. He would be a useful character to have in and around the dressing room.
Henrik Pedersen’s side drew 0-0 away at West Brom last time out. They will be eager to build on that draw with a positive result against Norwich City.
