A man has been charged after armed police descended on a Liverpool street. Officers were called to reports of a domestic incident inside a flat on Camborne Avenue, Halewood around 10.20am on Monday November 3.

Camborne Avenue and neighbouring Arncliffe Road, at the junction with Macket’s Lane, was cordoned off, while an ambulance crew, firefighters and workers from Cadent Gas, also arrived at the scene. Activity was focused on a block of flats on the corner of the roads.

One man living in the flats told the ECHO at the scene that he and other residents had been evacuated. He said: “I saw police flying down Macket’s Lane and thought, I bet they’re coming here.”

A worried dad walking past Arncliffe Road said: “My son lives in one of the flats there.

“The police have told him he can’t go back in. They’re right by his bedroom window.”

Emergency services began to leave the scene shortly after 2pm and the roads were re-opened.

In an update this morning, the force said a man had been charged following the incident.
