M&S is known for many things, but its cakes and sweet treats are up there with its most popular products.
We know from the commotion around its viral Strawberries and Creme Sandwich this summer just how quickly items can sell out.
So when we heard about a new addition to its cake range, we didn’t hang around.
The shelves were already packed with a number of flavours, including chocolate fudge, red velvet, carrot, lemon drizzle, coffee & walnut and Victoria sponge.
But now there’s a new one thrown into the mix with the addition of the Banana & Salted Caramel Cake – and it’s already going down a storm.

A banana sponge filled and topped with cream cheese frosting and salted caramel sauce, the ‘limited edition’ treat is most definitely one for the with sweet-toothed shoppers.
In fact some have found it a bit too sweet, but not us. The cake itself is so moist and the fact that there’s a thick layer of frosting and sauce inside it, as well as on top, means it’s packed with flavour. The mixture of banana and salted caramel makes for a delightful combination.

We’re clearly not the only ones to enjoy it and customers are already hoping this £4.25 buy is going to stick around, with comments such as ‘possibly the nicest cake I’ve ever tasted, please stock this all the time’ and ‘this is delightful. Tasty. Moist. Would buy on repeat. Gorgeous’.
Describing it simply as ‘delicious’, one reviewer said: “Moist and luxurious. Obviously sweet. If one doesn’t have a sweet tooth, a cake with caramel sauce is not the best choice. Please keep stocking.”
Another said: “As someone who usually bakes, I’m not always a fan of store bought cakes but this is absolutely delicious! Missing a star because it could be slightly less sweet.”

And a third commented ‘OMG absolutely sensational’, adding: “Wow soo delicious, moist, the banana & caramel combine together really well. Let’s keep it permanently please. Also it’s lovely with custard or some squirty cream, will definitely be buying again, highly recommend.”
