Delighted metal detectorists broke their fundraising record at their most recent charity dig – netting more than £1200 for Prostate Scotland.
The fundraising event involving the North Detectorists group was held on land near Culloden earlier this month.
And the members made the most of a good day in the field.

They raised more in one day than ever before. Their final sum of £1246 means that North Detectorists have now helped raise more than £10,000 for various charitable causes.

As well the the charity fundraising and the enjoyable time spent working in the field, the day also saw two of the members honoured with a special presentation.
“Prior to the commencement of the dig we had a presentation for two of our members lan Deveney and Mary Elizabeth for who received medals for previously finding some really special finds each so far this year,” explained North Detectorists’ George Macdonald.
“lan [recently found] a silver hammered coin hoard, which has been reported to Treasure Trove Scotland unit, in Edinburgh and Mary Elizabeth two had exceptional finds.
The day also saw Prostate Scotland’s Highland fundraiser, Steven O’Domhnaill give a chat at the dig to the members concerning how important it is for men to get screened and what the charity does.
