The Northern Belle is said to be ‘Britain’s poshest train’ and it’s coming to Birmingham for a special festive treat.

Passengers have the chance to climb aboard the prestigious train from Birmingham International to embark upon a luxury journey to get you into the festive spirit.

Recently voted one of world’s top five trains by the readers of the prestigious Condé Nast Traveller magazine, this fancy steam train was also featured on a Channel 5 programme where narrator Bill Nighy described it as ‘the grand dame of luxury travel’.

From the red carpet arrival on the platform to champagne and canapes, guests get to settle back in an armchair to relax as the wintery countryside whizzes by.

The journey includes a seven course Christmas meal with wine, an award-winning cheeseboard and glass of port followed by Fortnum & Mason tea or a special Northern Belle coffee, along with some delicate petits fours.

There will also be on board entertainment, including a conjuror performing tricks as he moves from table to table and musicians playing festive tunes.

The event takes place on Sunday December 14 and there are options to catch the train from both Birmingham International and Coventry stations.

A spokesman for Northern Belle said: “Christmas is coming and our special Festive Lunch will sleigh you as the Northern Belle meanders majestically through the wintry countryside.

“It’s a Christmas cracker of a trip, full of good cheer from the moment you step onto the red carpet laid across the station platform.

“Once aboard, you’ll be welcomed by our attentive stewards with Champagne and canapés, including our delicious caviar blinis.

“Then settle back into your comfortable armchair, pull one of our Christmas crackers and prepare for a sumptuous seven-course festive feast served with the finest wines.”

He added: “We round the meal off with a freshly prepared seasonal dessert before bringing round our award-winning cheeseboard, accompanied by a glass of delightful Port.

“Finally, relax with a cup of Fortnum & Mason tea or a special Northern Belle coffee, along with some delicate petits fours.

“Don’t forget — our musicians will be playing festive tunes to get you in the Christmas spirit, while our onboard conjuror, who wanders from table to table, always has a few seasonal tricks up his sleeve.”
