People in one of Merseyside’s best-known towns have said the misspelling of Kirkby on road markings and signs is “disgraceful”.

There have been several sightings of Kirkby being incorrectly spelt as Kirby, including four mistakes on the M58 junction.

Plans are under way to correct the errors, the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) understands, after approaching National Highways and Sefton Council.

Kim Bradshaw, 22, who noticed the incorrect spelling four times whilst driving on the roundabout near Maghull Lane in Sefton said: “I think that’s a joke, really.”
