The festive season is well-and-truly on the horizon. And if you listen carefully enough, you might just hear the distant sound of the halls being decked, the wine being mulled, and the UK’s plethora of Christmas markets setting up shop. However, with hundreds of festive fairs dotted across the country, it’s pretty difficult to choose which one to make a bee-line for. But choosing the most magical and memorable Christmas markets has got a whole lot easier this year, as the lovely lot over at the European travel specialists, Tollwayr, have done the research for us.

The travel-aficionados digitally rummaged through each of the UK’s Christmas markets, analysing them based on factors including the number of days they’re open, nearby accommodation costs, Google search volume, and social media engagement to uncover the best of the bunch. They crunched the numbers like a gingerbread biscuit, gave each market a score out of ten, and curated their findings into a handy list. And it just so happens that the third best Christmas market in the UK is right here in the capital city.

Returning for it’s 18th year, Winter Wonderland is soon to set up shop in the centre of Hyde Park, ready for another season of spreading Christmas cheer by the sleigh-load. Winter Wonderland is home to an abundance of market stalls, a bunch of heart-racing rollercoasters, plenty of live entertainment, and the UK’s largest open-air ice rink.

Open for 49 days this year, Winter Wonderland is the UK’s 4th most searched-for market, with 16,000 Google searches. And despite scoring a rather harsh score of 3.31 out of 10, it still managed to bag the third place spot on the list of the best Christmas markets in the UK. Edinburgh Christmas market earnt itself the Christmas crown, scoring 7.73 out of 10. Birmingham took the second spot, with a score of 5.65 out of 10.
