Stonewater, a social housing provider, has completed the upgrades at its Herald Court retirement living scheme in Dudley.

The scheme, which opened in 1986, provides 34 one-bedroom flats for people over the age of 55.

The work, which was carried out by property maintenance company CLC, included creating a games room and library, and relocating and extending the customer lounge and office.

Fire doors were installed, and a new warden call system was also put in place.

A 50-inch television was also donated by CLC.

The changes “These changes have enriched the wellbeing of customers living at Herald Court and has encouraged stronger relationships between customers and colleagues,” according to Stonewater.

Residents have said the changes have made a difference.

Carol, who lives at the scheme, said: “It’s like a five-star hotel now.

“My granddaughter came to visit and said how beautiful and lovely the space is now.”

Another resident, Alexander, said: “The work is so marvellous and wonderful.

“Now we have beautiful homes to live in and I’m very proud to live here.”

Stonewater has invested £19.97 million in refurbishment works across 29 schemes over the past ten years.
