A man has died after he was stabbed in a broad-daylight attack, police have said.

The 20-year-old victim was fatally injured just before 1pm today (Monday, November 10) on Abbotsford Drive in the St Ann’s area of Nottinghamshire.

Medics pronounced the man dead at the scene shortly after arriving.

A police cordon is currently in place with officers appealing to the public for information, NottinghamshireLive reports.

Chief Superintendent Nick Waldram said that detectives are working “tirelessly” to find those responsible.

He added: “Our thoughts remain with the man’s family during this incredibly difficult time. They are being supported by specially trained officers.

“Detectives are already working to understand exactly what happened in the moments before, during and after this incident.

“They want to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything which could assist our inquiries.

“No matter how insignificant you think your information may be, we want to hear from you.

“People in the area will understandably be concerned, but we currently believe this to be an isolated incident with no wider risk to the public.

“We know the impact this incident will have on the local community and therefore will be increasing patrols to provide reassurance while inquiries continue.”

A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Police added: “Detectives have launched a murder investigation after a 20-year-old man died following a stabbing in St Ann’s.

“We were called to Abbotsford Drive at around 12.50pm today (10 November) after a man was found with stab wounds.

“Despite the best efforts of paramedics at the scene, the man died shortly afterwards.
