A Birmingham man who raped and beat a woman with a baseball bat has been convicted.
Simon Tang attacked his victim- a sex worker- in a car park in Birmingham Street, Walsall, on 5 May.
During the brutal assault, he repeatedly hit her with a baseball ball which he retrieved from the boot of his car.

The woman suffered extensive bruising to her legs and head.
She bravely went to West Midlands Police and informed them of the brutal ordeal she had been subjected to.

Specially-trained officers supported throughout her recovery and worked with her to put together a case.
Tang, 56, was tracked down, arrested and convicted of two counts of rape, possessing an offensive weapon and actual bodily harm at Birmingham Crown Court.
Tang, of Weoley Castle Road, Birmingham, will be sentenced on January 30.

DS Morgan Colley, from the investigation team, said: “I would like to commend the bravery of the woman in this case as without her support we would not have been able to secure a positive outcome at court.
“This man posed a real danger to women and thanks to her, he has now been convicted of his crimes and remanded in custody ahead of sentence.”
