There is disruption between Manchester Piccadilly and Bredbury
Storm Claudia is causing disruption at Manchester Piccadilly after a tree blocked a railway line.
Services between the station and some lines heading towards Bredbury have been affected after a tree blocked the line as the storm continues to cause chaos across the region.
Northern Trains said staff are aware of the issue and are working at the scene to resolve it.
In an update the rail operator said: “Due to a tree blocking the railway between Manchester Piccadilly and Bredbury some lines are blocked.

“Train services running to and from these stations will be cancelled, delayed or diverted.
“Network Rail are aware of the issue and staff are expected on site at 16:30.
“Alternative travel suggestions: The following services are not impacted by this disruption in both directions:
“Manchester Piccadilly – Rose Hill Marple services. Manchester Piccadilly – Hadfield services.
“Customers at Belle Vue, Ryder Brow, Reddish North, Brinnington and Bredbury requires services towards New Mills Central/Sheffield are advised to travel to Manchester Piccadilly and change for connecting services towards New Mills Central/Sheffield.
“Customers who require Belle Vue, Ryder Brow, Reddish North, Brinnington and Bredbury are advised to travel to Romiley and change for connecting Northern services which are not impacted.
“Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance and Peak restrictions, during this disruption.
“Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.”
