A flood warning has been issued for an area of Greater Manchester tonight, with people in the affected area urged to ‘act now’.
The Environment Agency has issued the warning, which means flooding is expected, for the River Mersey at Cheadle Wood and Ford Lane.
Flooding is expected from 11pm this evening after Storm Claudia battered the region with heavy rain.
The Environment Agency flood warning, issued shortly after 9.40pm, states: “High river levels are expected to cause flooding today. Flooding is expected on 14 November 2025 from 11pm tonight.

“Locations most affected will be land and property close to the River Mersey at Didsbury Golf Course and Cheadle Wood. we expect the river to peak around 4am and levels to slowly subside dropping below the threshold for this warning between 9 and 11 am Saturday morning
“We are closely monitoring the situation . Start acting on your flood plan if you have one.”
Two flood alerts, which are less severe than a flood warning and mean that flooding is possible, also remain in force in Greater Manchester this evening – with other alerts in place in Cheshire, Derbyshire and Yorkshire as well as elsewhere in England.
