Children in Need viewers were in agreement as they praised Sara Cox following her whopping total after the Great Northern challenge.
BBC Radio 2 presenter Sara Cox completed her Great Northern Marathon Challenge on Friday (November 14.) Over the last five days, Sara has covered the equivalent of five marathons.
Raising money for Children in Need, Sarah started her 135-mile trek at Kielder Forest, where she then continued her challenge through Northumberland, Durham, North Yorkshire and West Yorkshire.
Sara’s journey came to an end in Pudsey, Leeds, having battled through Storm Claudia which arrived on her final day of the challenge.
As she finally crossed the finish line, the presenter shared some emotional words before announcing herself as an “honorary Yorkshire woman”.
During Friday night’s BBC’s Children in Need Appeal Show it was announced that Sara had raised a whopping £9,523,028 through her challenge.
As Sara arrived on the stage at Media City UK, Salford, host Paddy McGuiness bowed to her as he congratulated the star.
She admitted: “Can I just explain? I did have nice matching shoes, but my feet are so swollen that I’ve just got little Crocs on!”
Paddy responded: “I know how I felt last year, but you actually look a million dollars, fantastic.”
As Sara shared that she felt “exhausted”, she added: “It’s been the most amazing, painful and wonderful few days of my life. Thank you so much to everyone who’s donated…
“The Radio 2 family has been incredible, and the people who stood by at the side of the road in the sideways rain and wind. It’s incredible.”
