Birmingham City have extended the contract of goalkeeper Ryan Allsop by a further year until 2028.
Allsop has recently lost his place between the sticks to James Beadle but the experienced glovesman has been rewarded following an impressive 2024/25 campaign.
The 33-year-old won the Golden Glove as the goalkeeper with the most clean sheets in a season which saw Blues waltz their way to the League One title in record-breaking style.
In 53 games for Blues, Allsop has kept 26 clean sheets including two in home victories over Oxford United and Swansea City in the Championship this season.
Allsop initially signed a three-year contract when he joined Blues from Hull City in 2024.
Allsop told the club website: “I’m really excited. It’s obviously no secret that I’m a Birmingham City fan and it is a club that is very close to my heart.
“I’m really proud and privileged to be playing a part in the huge ambition that we’ve got and really proud to be extending my stay. Long may the success continue.”
Speaking to BirminghamLive earlier this year, Allsop – who is a boyhood Blues supporter – admitted he hopes to one day grace the Premier League with his club.
“I still want to play in the Premier League and I know the club is very ambitious,” Allsop said. “It fits. I haven’t come here to slow down, I’ve come here to make the most of what I can bring to the club.
“I want to make sure we get back to where we belong and in my eyes that’s seeing the club play in the Premier League, like I used to watch.”
