The countdown to Christmas is officially on as Edinburgh’s annual Christmas markets have opened their doors once more. The famous festivities have returned to the Capital after they opened on Saturday, November 14 and they are said to be better than ever this year.

Over the next seven weeks, there will be lots happening across the city as a part of their Christmas, Hogmanay and Winter Festival programmes. The traditional Christmas markets with the LNER Big Wheel, the Starflyer, and the carousel are set up in their usual location of East Princes Street Gardens with other stalls and a funfair at West Princes Street Gardens and an ice rink and ice bar on George Street West.

While entry to the markets is free, a lovely day out at the Christmas markets comes with typical Christmas markets prices which can add up very quickly if you are there in a group or with your family. Thankfully, anyone with a EH postcode can save up some pennies on their festive day out with up to 20% at many of the ticketed attractions and events in Edinburgh.
