Liam Cooper is back in the Championship after sealing a move to Sheffield Wednesday, where he is set to encounter some of his old Leeds teammates.

The likes of Patrick Bamford and Joe Gelhardt await the 34-year-old after he penned a deal which runs until the end of the season, as do Luke Ayling and Leif Davis.

So, when will Liam Cooper be facing his former Leeds teammates? Let’s take a look.

Patrick Bamford up first for Liam Cooper as Leeds United heroes set to face off

Coincidentally, the Scotland international could find himself marking Bamford when he makes his debut for the Owls.

Sheffield Wednesday take on Sheffield United in the Steel City derby this Sunday at Hillsborough – in a game where Bamford could also make his debut for the Blades after Chris Wilder surprisingly handed him a contract last week.

Jamie Shackleton also plays for Sheffield United and is set to reunite with Cooper.

The next former Leeds teammate Cooper will face is Davis when Sheffield Wednesday travel to Portman Road to face Ipswich on Saturday 20th December – a man he made 30 appearances alongside for the Whites.

MORE LEEDS UNITED STORIES

Jack Clarke will also be involved for the Tractor Boys – barring an injury or suspension.

Just six days later, the new Sheffield United No.16 faces the prolific Gelhardt at Hillsborough for a Boxing Day clash against Hull.

That is sure to be a tough test for Cooper, seeing as the Leeds loanee can boast five goals in his last six Championship appearances for the Tigers – along with two assists.

Darko Gyabi is also likely to be involved in that game having left Leeds for Hull in September, while Cody Drameh is with the Tigers too.

Cooper then gets to face the aforementioned names once again in reverse fixtures, as Sheffield Wednesday play Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Sunday 22nd February, Ipswich at Hillsborough on Saturday 14th March and Hull – coincidentally six days later again – on Saturday 21st March.

Last but not least, Cooper will then meet Ayling – who he made 150 appearances alongside for Leeds – when Sheffield Wednesday travel to Teesside to play Middlesbrough on Tuesday 21st April, in the 44th Championship fixture of the campaign.

That latter encounter could be a hugely decisive game at both ends of the table, with Middlesbrough currently second as Sheffield Wednesday sit bottom on minus four points.

Liam Cooper will also meet Adam Forshaw

The list goes on.

Forshaw actually messaged Cooper after hearing about his move to Sheffield Wednesday, as did Gelhardt.

Sheffield Wednesday are yet to face Blackburn this season, so Cooper will have two chances to catch up with his old pal in Championship clashes which fall on Saturday 6th December and Monday 29th December – the latter of which is at Hillsborough.
