A man has tragically been found dead after police responded to reports of a ‘man in a canal’ in Birmingham.
West Midlands Police said officers had been called to Bordesley Green East – which is close to the River Cole – at 1.20pm yesterday, Tuesday, November 18.
Police said the man was declared dead at the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance service spokeswoman told BirminghamLive: “We were called to an incident in an area off Bordesley Green East in Yardley, Birmingham at 1.48pm.
“We sent an ambulance and paramedic officer to the scene.

“On arrival, crews found a man but sadly, it quickly became clear he could not be saved.
“He was confirmed dead at the scene.”
A police spokesman added: “We were called to Bordesley Green East at around 1.20pm yesterday (18 November) to reports of a man in a canal.

“Sadly, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“His death is not being treated as suspicious and will be referred to the coroner in due course.”
A West Midlands Fire Service spokesperson added: “Shortly before 1.40pm on Tuesday 18 November, we responded to Bordesley Green East, Yardley.
“Two fire engines from Erdington and Hay Mills responded. Firefighters were supported by a crew from our specialist technical rescue unit.
“Crews helped bring the body of a man to shore, and he was confirmed dead at the scene by paramedics. Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this incident.”
