Amazon Prime Video enthusiasts have less than a month to immerse themselves in a TV series hailed as an ‘absolute masterpiece’.

Little Fires Everywhere, inspired by Celeste Ng’s 2017 novel, was launched in 2020 with Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington both starring and acting as executive producers.

Witherspoon, famed for her role in Legally Blonde, embodies journalist and mother-of-four Elena Richardson, while Washington, known from Scandal, takes on the character of Mia Warren, a mother and artist.

The cast also features Joshua Jackson as Elena’s spouse Bill, Rosemarie DeWitt as Linda McCullough, Jady Pettyjohn as Elena’s daughter Lexie, and Lexi Underwood as Mia’s daughter Pearl.

This eight-part drama revolves around the seemingly perfect Richardson family whose lives are disrupted by a mysterious mother-daughter pair, reports SurreyLive.

The plot delves into themes of hidden family secrets, motherhood, identity, and racial and political tensions in America. The storyline switches between 1997, when the Richardson’s home is intentionally set on fire causing tension between Elena and Mia, and earlier years, portraying Mia’s life as a single mother and her work as a housekeeper for the Richardson family.

Upon its launch, Little Fires Everywhere rapidly gained popularity, securing a 78% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a score of 7.7/10 on IMDb.

The hit series has made a splash on Hulu, racking up more viewing hours over a fortnight than any other drama and drawing in more subscribers than any other programme during the same period, as per De’s insights.

It has scooped up several Primetime Emmy nods, including one for outstanding limited series. Kerry earned a Screen Actors Guild award nomination for her stellar lead performance in a TV movie or limited series, while Lexi clinched a Black Reel award for her superb supporting role. Yet, despite its overwhelming acclaim, Little Fires Everywhere is on the brink of exiting Amazon Prime Video in the next 30 days.
