Police Seize Guns, Drugs And Illegal Alcohol As Part Of Nationwide Campaign
Birmingham police officers have raided two properties and seized a gun, drugs and illegal bottles of alcohol.
The two raids were carried out in the Digbeth area of the city with officers cutting into a doorway at a premises with ‘health, massage and reflexology’ above.
Inside, officers found a shotgun, three imitation firearms and 20 bottles of illegally imported alcohol, including Smirnoff vodka.

Police also then raided a nearby flat and found bags of suspected Class A drugs.
Four people arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.
The raids were carried out by West Midlands Police’s Operation Fearless team.

They were part of a wider initiative, Operation Machinize, led by the National Crime Agency.
Officers from across the West Midlands have seized thousands of pounds worth of cash and goods as part of the nationwide campaign.
Warrants and proactive operations have been held all over the region targeting ‘high street crime’.

More than 150 business premises were visited including barber shops, nail bars and car washes.
The focus has been on cash-intensive businesses, which are often used by organised crime groups to launder the proceeds of crime.

Across the West Midlands, officers made 11 arrests for a range of offences, including sexual assault, money laundering, drug offences and managing a brothel.
The nationwide campaign included every UK police force, as well as partner agencies including the Regional Organised Crime Unit, Home Office Immigration Enforcement, Trading Standards, HM Revenue and Customs and Companies House.
