Part of a major Liverpool road could remain closed for a week due to “urgent repairs”. A section of Allerton Road, at the junction of Yewtree Road and Booker Avenue until Sycamore Park, will be shut to all vehicles as electrical repairs take place.

The road in Mossley Hill is used by many drivers to access Allerton Manor Golf Club and Fletcher’s Sport Bar, as well as the shops, bars and restaurants on the main stretch of Allerton Road leading to Smithdown Road.

A notice from Liverpool City Council said: “This order will be operative from Thursday 20 to Sunday 30 November 2025, or for such a lesser time as dictated by the early completion of the works.

“A signed diversion will be erected for the duration of the closure.

“This order is made to safely enable urgent electrical repairs works.”

A statement from the local Liberal Democrat councillors said: “An emergency traffic order has been granted to close Allerton Road for the next 11 days at the junction with Yewtree Road and Booker Avenue.

“This is to enable urgent electrical repair work.

“The closure is due to end on Sunday 30 November, but the road will reopen as soon as the work is completed.

“Diversions will be in place.”
