• King Charles III “is fond of his nieces and doesn’t want them to suffer” because of their father Andrew Mountatten-Windsor’s actions, according to a new Vanity Fair report.
  • His royal titles and privileges were officially revoked last month.
  • The former Prince’s daughters, Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, have begun taking on some ancillary royal duties, though they are not considered working members of the family.

King Charles III is showing support for his nieces, Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, despite their father’s recent disownment from the royal family. In a new Vanity Fair report published Monday, sources close to the Windsors revealed that the monarch is considering giving Eugenie and Beatrice more prominent royal duties.

“It was something that was being looked at before recent events but despite what has happened with Andrew, it’s not off the cards,” one insider told Vanity Fair. “Whatever people might think of Andrew, the girls are kind, hardworking and want to help if they can.”

The former Prince Andrew, now known by the surname Mountbatten-Windsor, had all of his titles and privileges stripped in a history-making move by His Majesty, which took place in October.

Earlier this month, it was announced that Eugenie would serve as a mentor on behalf of Charles’s King’s Foundation, attending a London reception hosted for people under 35.

“She was so excited to be there and seemed very proud to have been asked,” a source who was at the event said.

Meanwhile, her younger sister Beatrice was recently named Deputy Patron of The Outward Bound Trust, a charity focused on outdoor education, after having previously served as a trustee.

“The monarch is fond of his nieces and doesn’t want them to suffer because of their father’s downfall,” sources close to the King shared.

“There was no deal struck about the future for Beatrice and Eugenie, they are private individuals in that respect, but there have been talks for some time about using them when and if there is a need. For their part, they have let it be known that they are more than willing to do public duties if and when they can to support the king.”

The same insider explained that King Charles is “testing the water” to see how the public is receiving his nieces. They have never been considered working royals, though additional reports have affirmed that this could change in the future.

According to a source close to the princesses, Beatrice and Eugenie “recognize there is a responsibility to support their uncle and they want to support him.”

Although family friends said it’s been a “devastating” time for the York family, Beatrice and Eugenie are reportedly determined to “stick together and stay strong.”
