An appeal to find the driver of a car involved in a horror crash on the M6 which left two children injured, one seriously, has been launched by police.

The crash took place on the northbound carriageway of the motorway near Henley, between junctions 2 for Coventry east and Leicester and 3 for Bedworth, Nuneaton and Coventry north on Monday (November 24) shortly after midnight.

A black Range Rover Evoque and a black Land Rover Discovery Sport collided at around 12.30am, with one of the vehicles left ‘smoking and on its side’.

Two girls were injured in the crash. One had ‘serious injuries’ and was taken to Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

While the second suffered more minor injuries and was taken to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said it received the 999 call at 12.29am and sent two ambulances and a paramedic officer.

The spokeswoman said: “On arrival, crews found a car on its side. The first patient, a girl, was found outside the vehicle.

“Ambulance staff treated the child for serious injuries before she was conveyed to Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

“A second patient, also a young girl, was treated for minor injuries and was conveyed to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.”

The northbound carriageway of the motorway was closed following the crash until around 5am.

Warwickshire Police is now appealing for witnesses to the crash to come forward. It said no arrests have been made.

A spokesperson for the force said: “We’re appealing for witnesses to and dashcam footage of a collision on the M6 this morning (Monday, November 24).

“It happened at around 12.30am between junctions 2 and 3 on the northbound carriageway and involved a Black Range Rover Evoque and a Black Land Rover Discovery Sport.

“Our officers, along with fire and ambulance colleagues, attended the scene where, on arrival, one car was found to be smoking and on its side.

“Road closures were in place until around 5am while we responded to the incident.

“A child was taken to hospital with serious injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. We have not made any arrests at this stage.
