The death of a man whose body was recovered from Bristol harbour is being treated as “unexplained but not suspicious”.

Police have said while formal identification is yet to take place, the family of 28-year-old Rehaan, who was reported as missing on Sunday, November 23, have been informed.

Rehaan, from Llanelli in South Wales, was out with his friends in Bristol when he went missing at around 1.05am near the Arnolfini.

On Monday, November 24, Avon and Somerset Police issued an update on the search to confirm: “We are saddened to report that a body has been recovered from the water during the search for missing 28-year-old Rehaan.

“While formal identification has not yet taken place, we have updated his family and they are being offered support by a specialist family liaison officer.

“We keep them in our thoughts during this incredibly difficult time. We are treating this death as unexplained, but not suspicious, and will be preparing a file for the coroner.

“We would like to thank the public for sharing our appeal.”

Following the news of the discovery, Calsonic Kansei Swiss Valley AFC (CKSV), a football team that plays in the West Wales Premier League, paid tribute to Rehaan, who was a first-team player at the club.

The club described him as a “passionate footballer” and a “valued presence” and said he will be deeply missed.

Other football clubs also paid tribute to Rehaan, including Trallwm Tigers Football Club and Llangennech AFC. Trallwm wrote on Facebook: “[Rehaan] was not only a talented footballer but a kind and humble person.

“He gave everything on the pitch and brought warmth, positivity, and commitment off it. His presence made a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of playing alongside him.

“Our deepest condolences to his family and all who knew him. Very sad times and a such a bright life taken far too soon.”
