The European Commission has released the first Implementation Regulation under the Carbon Removals and Carbon Farming (CRCF) framework. This sets out how carbon removal and carbon farming activities will be certified across the EU.

The new rules pave the way for the operational side of the CRCF and come ahead of the Commission’s review of certification schemes for direct air capture (DAC), biogenic emissions capture with carbon storage (BioCSS), and biochar in 2026.
