Morocco has expanded its fresh sweet corn exports to Germany for the second straight year, as the Kingdom exported over 2,000 tons of sweet corn to Germany during the first three quarters of the year, according to East Fruit analysis.

This volume surpasses the 2024 record by 18% and doubles the shipments recorded in 2023.

Morocco first exported fresh sweet corn to Germany in 2012, delivering 267 tons. Exports grew steadily, exceeding 1,500 tons in 2020. Shipments declined between 2021 and 2023 but rebounded in 2024 to set a new record.

Germany historically ranked fourth among Morocco’s sweet corn destinations, behind the UK, Spain, and the Netherlands. In 2025, Moroccan shipments exceeded deliveries to the Netherlands by nearly 500 tons.

Morocco is on track to enter the top three export markets for German sweet corn by year-end.

Spain remains Germany’s largest supplier, though its share dropped from 65% in 2020 to 43% in 2024. Morocco secured the second spot, increasing its market share from 12% in 2023 to more than 30% in the first nine months of 2025. The Netherlands and France continue as key suppliers.

Moroccan exports peak in April and May, aligning with Germany’s busiest import season. During this period, Morocco captured up to 60% of the German market. Deliveries from a second harvest in October through December in 2024 may repeat in 2025, potentially setting a higher record.

Overall, Morocco exported over 20,000 tons of fresh sweet corn last season, highlighting its growing role in the European market.
