Police investigating the alleged theft of a child’s bike in Greater Manchester have issued an appeal. The public has been asked for help to identify a man in connection with the incident which took place earlier this month in Wigan.

Greater Manchester Police believe the suspect was driving a van down Long Lane in Hindley Green before stopping outside an address and picking up the bike from the driveway. The suspect is then believed to have driven off in the van.

The bike is described as a grey grey Carrera Abyss Junior Hybrid Bike (Limited Edition) with 24″ Wheel and has red Carrera written on the frame. The alleged theft is reported to have taken place at around 11am on Sunday, November 2.

In a post on Facebook, the force shared a photo of a man who they want to speak to as part of their investigation. The post, from the Wigan and Leigh Police account, reads: “#APPEAL | Can you help to identify a male we are looking to speak with in connection to the alleged theft of a child’s bike around 11am on Sunday 2 November 2025?

“It is believed the suspect was driving a van down Long Lane, Hindley Green, Wigan before stopping outside an address, picking up the bike from the driveway and driving off in the van.

“The bike is described as a grey Carrera Abyss Junior Hybrid Bike (Limited Edition) with 24” Wheel and has red Carrera written on the frame.

“Anyone with information should contact the police on 101 quoting log 1218 of 06/11/25.”
