Alex Scott has said she won’t be staying in Australia after her partner Jess Glynne shared the heartbreaking reason she wasn’t there upon her I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here exit.

The former footballer, 41, was the first campmate to be evicted from the reality show on Friday (November 28) after it was announced that she had received the fewest votes and would be heading home.

During her two weeks in the camp, Scott skydived from 12,000 feet and even waded through offal as part of the show’s challenges. And while eliminated contestants normally remain at a hotel in Australia until the final, Alex has told how she wants to get back to the UK and be a “rock” for Jess.

It comes after the singer, who has been dating Alex since 2023, didn’t fly to Australia to because her mother recently had a stroke. After Alex was voted off the ITV reality show, Jess took to Instagram to share the heartbreaking reason she wasn’t present to support Alex.

She posted: “I know people will wonder why I wasn’t there at the end of the bridge, so I wanted to share something personal. Over the last few weeks, my mum suffered a stroke and needed urgent brain surgery.

“It’s been a really serious, life-altering time for my family, and I’ve had to stay close to home. “Alex would always want me to be where I’m needed most. I can’t wait to have her back by my side.”

Now, Alex has told the Mirror: “I want to be there for the wrap party but I need to get home straight away. She is my Jessica – I am going to go home and be her rock.”

She added: “I knew there was always a possibility of her not being across the bridge, if her mum hadn’t got better, or if things had been getting worse, which they have been. But it was a big decision for me to not pass this opportunity, and Jess was the one that pushed me to be here.”

Alex also told the Mirror she struggled with not being able to communicate with Jess during her time in camp. “I found that really tough in the jungle, not being able to speak to Jess every day and just check in and see what’s going on, and how she was doing,” she said. “When we did speak, it was an emotional moment.”

It comes after Jess also posted that she was disappointed that Alex “didn’t get the airtime” she deserved. She said: “My woman might be out far earlier than she ever deserved but I’m so unbelievably proud of her. She didn’t get the airtime to show how incredible she really is and trust me, this is only the beginning.”

Alex spent 14 days in the I’m a Celebrity jungle before losing out on the public vote. After being evicted, she said: “Oh my days. It’s like being free. It feels strange, it doesn’t feel real.

“It’s been such an incredible experience, mentally it’s so tough and I did struggle at times missing home. But I’m so glad I got to do this series with such a great bunch of campmates. The laughter the humour with everyone bouncing off each other we really connected, and I wasn’t expecting that coming into the jungle.”
